About San Clemente: Outdoor Activities
If you love outdoor activities, then San Clemente is the place for you. Here are a list of some of the outdoor activities San Clemente has to offer:
- Surfing – San Clemente is home to some of the most famous spots in all of California, including Trestles (Uppers, Lowers, Cottons, Church’s), T-Street, 204’s, Old Man’s, North Beach and Riviera.
- Hiking – Beach Trail, Cristianitos Trail, Forster Ranch Ridgeline Trail, Prima Deshecha Regional Trail, Rancho San Clemente Ridgeline Trail.
- Biking – There are great cycling trails for both mountain bikers and road cyclists alike.
- Diving – When the wind is minimal and the surf is down, diving San Clemente’s rock reefs are a great choice. There is an abundance of fish and sea life just a short swim from the shore.
- Fishing – The pier is a free and easy way to get a line in the water. For the more ambitious, spear fishing or fishing from a kayak or a stand up paddle board can be done all along the coast of San Clemente. The rock reefs and the kelp beds are home to some good-tasting fish like halibut and white sea bass.
- Parks – There are several parks within San Clemente, some being the size of a basketball court and some being quite big. There are city parks speckled throughout San Clemente along with skate parks, baseball fields and dog parks.
- Golf – There are a couple of private golf courses, as well as a municipal course in San Clemente.
- Beaches – The beaches in San Clemente are great. They are not as crowded as most of the beaches of Orange County and are just as nice, if not nicer.
- Kayaking – Ocean kayaking can be done along San Clemente’s coastline, but launching out of San Onofre State Park offers the calmest waters.
- Stand Up Paddling – Much like kayaking, it can be done all along the coast, but if you’re wanting to surf while stand up paddling, Old Man’s is the best spot with its slow and long waves – perfect for stand up paddling.
